the fonts are built using pngquant- but pngquant is disabled on s390x/riscv64 because libimagequant was ported to rust.. (yes, i checked it doesn't really build even with rust available on s390x, and riscv64 rust is broken currently)
perhaps we should ship only the prebuilts? this is one of those cases yet again where having real noarch would help, building only on a "noarch" builder and shipping it to everyone. would also save a lot of mirror disk space to not duplicate all the files per arch..
