3.4/amd64 lxd image has 3.3 version in /etc/os-release
This may very well be a bug in the configuration of the lxd images.
It affects my first experience with alpine linux, which is as follows:
On Ubuntu 16.04, on amd64:
sudo apt install lxc
sudo lxc launch images:alpine/3.4/amd64 alpine34
sudo lxc exec alpine34 cat /etc/os-release
NAME=“Alpine Linux”
ID=alpine
VERSION_ID=3.3.0
PRETTY_NAME=“Alpine Linux v3.3”
HOME_URL=“http://alpinelinux.org”
BUG_REPORT_URL=“http://bugs.alpinelinux.org”
Result: The image contains the wrong version: 3.3
Expected result: I should see alpine version 3.4
Similarly with /etc/issue and /etc/alpine-release
lxc-create creates a container with the correct release, 3.4
sudo lxc-create -t alpine -n alpine34
sudo lxc-start -n alpine34 -d
sudo lxc-attach alpine34
cat /etc/os-release
NAME=“Alpine Linux”
ID=alpine
VERSION_ID=3.4.1
PRETTY_NAME=“Alpine Linux v3.4”
HOME_URL=“http://alpinelinux.org”
BUG_REPORT_URL=“http://bugs.alpinelinux.org”
