Dovecot crashes after logrotate

Dovecot shows as crashed in output of rc-status -a and clients cannot connect to the mail server after logrotate runs and reloads the dovecot configuration at midnight every night. See this in the logs:

Aug 06 02:00:11 dovecot: Warning: SIGHUP received - reloading configuration
Aug 06 02:00:11 dovecot: Panic: file ioloop-iolist.c: line 25 (ioloop_iolist_add): assertion failed: (list->ios[idx] == NULL)

Am able to get dovecot to run by running: /etc/init.d/dovecot restart

Will report this upstream to dovecot developers.
