simple-scan doesn't list "Canon LIDE 110" despite sane-find-scanner listing it and all canon sane backends being installed
(forwarded from https://gitlab.com/postmarketOS/pmaports/-/issues/2494 and please close if this is actually a postmarketOS issue)
Describe your issue
simple-scan doesn't list "Canon LIDE 110" despite sane-find-scanner listing it and all canon sane backends being installed. Here's what sane-find-scanner
lists: found USB scanner (vendor=0x04a9 [Canon], product=0x1909 [CanoScan], chip=GL124) at libusb:001:012
, yet this is what simple-scan says: "No Scanners Detected". And this also worked on mobian, and also the scanner works with a different Linux host of mine, so the scanner isn't defective.
What's the expected behaviour?
After installing sane, the sane canon backends, and simple-scan, and saned, and adding saned to openrc and starting it, I can use simple-scan and a plugged in Canon LIDE 110 scanner will show up.
What's the current behaviour?
After installing sane, the sane canon backends, and simple-scan, and saned, and adding saned to openrc and starting it, when I use simple-scan no plugged in Canon LIDE 110 scanner shows up.
How to reproduce your issue?
- Install sane and all sane canon backends and saned
- Add saned to openrc to auto-start and then make sure it runs and/or reboot
- Install GNOME's document scanner, binary name is: simple-scan
- Plug in USB-C hub into pinephone, plug in Canon LIDE 110 into hub
- Launch simple-scan
- Read what simple-scasn says about detected scanners in the window that opens right away
