Path misconfiguration in ppp-pppoe 2.5.0
I started getting the following error when trying to dial a PPP connection after upgrading the ppp-pppoe
package from ppp-pppoe-2.4.9-r6
to ppp-pppoe-2.5.0-r1
:
/usr/sbin/pppd: Error loading shared library /usr/lib/pppd/2.5.0/rp-pppoe.so: No such file or directory
/usr/sbin/pppd: Couldn't load plugin rp-pppoe.so
When I look at the paths involved, I can see that 2.4.9
did contain a file in this location named rp-pppoe.so
: https://pkgs.alpinelinux.org/contents?file=&path=&name=ppp-pppoe&branch=v3.17&repo=main&arch=aarch64
But as of 2.5.0
, the file has been renamed to just pppoe.so
: https://pkgs.alpinelinux.org/contents?file=&path=&name=ppp-pppoe&branch=v3.18&repo=main&arch=aarch64
I'm not sure if this is an upstream change or one present in Alpine, but it does seem that this has broken PPP connectivity at least in my deployment, so I'm having to keep rolling with 2.4.9
for now.
Is this an Alpine bug, or does this one need to go further upstream? I'm unsure.
