Can't install ZFS on 3.17.0 x86_64
Steps to reproduce:
- Download standard 3.17.0 x86_64 and flash it to a USB stick
- Upon boot, follow the instructions on OpenZFS:
apk add zfs zfs-lts
followed bymodprobe zfs
.
I expect the ZFS module to load and be functional, but I get: modprobe: FATAL: Module zfs not found in directory /lib/modules/5.15.79-0-lts
.
From the output during ZFS installation, it seems it tries to install zfs-lts-5.15.86-r1
, even though my uname -r
shows 5.15.79-0-lts
. The obvious conclusion is that I'm installing the wrong version of something, but since I'm quite new here I'm not sure where to go.
Is ZFS not supported by 3.17.0?
Do I need to install a newer kernel than the one defined in 3.17.0?
Is there a way to ensure that future upgrades (apk upgrade) actually upgrades to a kernel version that ZFS supports? Coming from the Arch-distro, I know there's issues with the ZFS compatible kernel versions being a bit behind the normal release schedule. Is it the same with Alpine?
Thanks! Best regards / Erik
