e2fsprogs can be uninstalled manually on systems that depend on it
Hello!
I'm not sure if this qualifies as a bug, or if there is any reasonable fix but, I have a system with a root ext4 partition, and I accidentally uninstalled the e2fsprogs
package, and my system refused to boot properly. After checking a few files I realized that the localmount
and root
services depend on fsck
, and that fsck.ext{2,3,4}
is provided by e2fsprogs
. The "workaround" was to remount the root filesystem manually, re-install e2fsprogs
, and reboot, but it took me a while to reach that conclusion :^)
So I was wondering if e2fsprogs
could be added as a dependency to another relevant package, to avoid problems like this, without forcing people who don't have ext{2,3,4}
filesystems to install it?
Thanks.
