Prevent mouse clicks to insert garbage in mc (Midnight Commander) with and without gpm
We have a Midnight Commander package in Alpine Linux, that works well with keyboard, without using mouse. But many users have graphical terminals on frontend side and use mouse for other needs.
And it's very annoying that each accidental mouse click on Alpine's mc instance inserts garbage like 0;33M0;33m23
into command line text!
I understand, that most versions of Alpine doesn't have mouse support at all, because of missing gpm
package, that now available only in edge
testing version of Alpine: https://pkgs.alpinelinux.org/package/edge/testing/x86_64/gpm
But those garbage after accidental mouse clicks makes me mad!
Can we invent some workaround to resolve this annoying issue and prevent mc
from inserting garbage to console on mouse clicks?
Maybe compiling mc
with mouse support can solve this issue even with missing gpm
package?
