I'm managing a thirdparty aports (https://github.com/seqsense/aports-ros-experimental) and adding license files to `-doc`. I'd like to help doing it on the official aports.
https://github.com/seqsense/aports-ros-experimental/blob/master/scripts/find_and_add_license_path.sh
This helper script make it easy to find license files in source archives and add it to APKBUILD.

(added below: Oct 24, 2020)
In my understanding, repositories like `http://dl-*.alpinelinux.org/alpine/*` redistribute softwares (which are compiled (translated) into binary) licensed under free-software licenses.
So, the repositories should have copyright/copyleft notices and license statements according to the licenses.
I think having license files in `-doc` subpackage is needed to follow the licenses.https://gitlab.alpinelinux.org/alpine/aports/-/issues/14604package request:fcitx5-kkc fcitx5-anthy fcitx5-mozc2023-02-01T12:06:44ZR. I would guess that is because of some flakiness in the test that uses expect to sanity test some cli tty behaviour. The previous version seems to have worked fine and don't think i've done any big changes in 0.0.10 related to that.
Possible to retry? ill will try figure out if i can make the test more robust.https://gitlab.alpinelinux.org/alpine/apk-tools/-/issues/10874conversion of installeddb and query applets to new database format2023-01-31T11:16:53ZTimo Teräsconversion of installeddb and query applets to new database formatConvert all internal code to use the new ADB based structures.

I upgraded to edge to have GNOME 40 and when my desktop is now locked (manually or automatically after X minutes), I cannot wake it up anymore. The screen stays blank. If I switch to another tty using CTRL + F-key, the screen turns on and shows me a prompt. If I switch back to the original tty, the GDM greeter is shown.
# What's happening
Pressing a key or moving the mouse doesn't do anything when the desktop is locked.
# What's supposed to happen
Pressing a key or moving the mouse wakes up the desktop and shows the GDM greeter.
# Steps to reproduce
1. Lock the screen
2. Wait until the screen enter low power mode
3. Try to wake it up by moving the mouse or pressing a key on the keyboard.

This makes sense so that they are always installed whenever something else is installed. However, for AppStream and graphical Software Apps, suddenly `libreoffice-common` is the package identified as the libreoffice startcenter, and the one that will be installed when selecting libreoffice. This wouldn't be a problem if it worked, but when trying to run `libreoffice` when only `libreoffice-common` package is installed results in the startup getting stuck in:

This means I obviously miss out on the security updates too, so this seems like a big deal to me. I just occasionally notice that apparently, some weeks ago there was a new release and I didn't know.
Therefore, I'm suggesting that like the default configuration for Ubuntu Server, the ssh login banner should include the output of some program that tells me if there is a new stable Alpine release out that is newer than the one I'm currently running so that as soon as I touch the server login I immediately will be aware if an upgrade is to be done. On Ubuntu, that has helped me greatly not miss the upgrades which I think would be a win for everyone, since you get earlier adoption and I get more up-to-date patches for security.https://gitlab.alpinelinux.org/alpine/aports/-/issues/14592occasional hang on shutdown2023-01-27T11:25:58ZDominique Martinetoccasional hang on shutdownHello,

we've recently started using alpine on a slow arm board. Things mostly work fine, but running reboot or poweroff sometimes hang (looping reboot in a loop made our board hang once every 3 days or so, lovely bug to reproduce, especially as most of the userspace is gone by the time the openrc process is stuck)
We've had the problem on alpine 3.16 and still have it on 3.17.
After analysis openrc is stuck in a malloc call, most certainly because it calls free() in its signal handler (and handles SIGCHLD while still allocating more stuff)
I've written about it directly on openrc issue tracker: https://github.com/OpenRC/openrc/issues/589
(analysis/earlier discussion on musl list here: https://www.openwall.com/lists/musl/2023/01/23/1 -- linked in openrc issue)
I'll send openrc a patch in a few days; might as well track this here as well meanwhile.
(Also, a couple of open questions:
- I guess people using rc_parallel are rare?
- I've read we wanted to convert to s6 eventually, but haven't seen anything concrete -- now I'm looking again I see s6-rc/s6-linux-init in main, are there known users of it on bare metal? s6-linux-init with openrc probably does not make that much sense speedup-wise but is probably easy enough to do, I'll probably give s6-rc a try in the next few weeks....)https://gitlab.alpinelinux.org/alpine/aports/-/issues/14591Package Request: opentodolist2023-01-26T23:19:16ZEloi TorrentsPackage Request: opentodolisthttps://gitlab.com/rpdev/opentodolist

On Macintosh keyboards, the option keys are the same, contrary on PC keyboards the left option key is the alt-opt key that can be replicated by pressing shift and left option at the same time, so they are different.
It seems the special characters of the mac layouts can only be triggered by the alt-opt key signal, but they also have to be triggered by the alt signal, if those are not the same. I use 10 fingers to type, so I need the left option key to function the same as the right option key.
Interestingly, I was not able to print those special characters by pressing shift + left option key either.https://gitlab.alpinelinux.org/alpine/aports/-/issues/14570can't stop by rc-service bareos-filedaemon2023-01-20T11:54:00ZAlexander Bazhenovcan't stop by rc-service bareos-filedaemonAfter **bareos-filedaemon-22.0.1-r0 x86_64** package install:

I encouraged a bug on desktop (graphical setup) while trying to enroll xiph rnnoise noise-cancellation for video-conferencing with pipewire (and pipewire-pulse)

- Kernel: `5.15.88-0-lts`

According to https://github.com/werman/noise-suppression-for-voice I installed `rnnoise` package using apk. Then I copied and corrected my working OpenSUSE configs.
When I run pipewire as current user it fails with:
