The download page doesn't provide enough information about the download images
I wanted to create one test installation on a computer in a place
without ethernet, so I used the download page.
https://alpinelinux.org/downloads/
There are many options including “standard” and “extended”. It is true
that „Network connection recommended” serves as a small hint that this
image might not work for the case but wireless network connection is
also network connection, so not really.
As a power user, I would like to see a link to detailed information
about
the respective images including possibly the link to configuration
that
specifies which exact packages are part of the link. Additionally, I
might
be interested in more information on how those images are created and
how
I can tweak that method and get my own slightly different images
created.
All of this ideally somehow accessible from the page where I see all
sorts
of options to download, as that sounds like a natural place to start
even
when I’m looking for more detailed information.
