community/mate-panel: dconf-editor and uneven version numbers
I was asked to file an issue here. My comment in the merged MR !54464 (merged) was not the ideal place for that. Cc: @andypost
mate-panel
in Alpine was upgraded from version 1.26.3 to 1.27.2 recently by !54464 (merged). On my postmarketOS devices samsung-serranove
and qemu-amd64
this caused some panel plugins to crash at login, each one popping up a message "... has quit unexpectedly". I found the following upstream issue report. As a temporary workaround package dconf-editor
can be installed. Within that issue report it's currently in discussion to make that a dependency.
Beyond that and technically independent from the issue, in the upstream issue report it's mentioned that uneven version numbers of MATE are unstable versions for development. They generally should not be mixed with stable even version numbers.

(Off-topic: In postmarketOS I experienced a second similar but unrelated issue. It seems to be device-related. As the cause is not yet clear, I posted an issue in postmarketOS: https://gitlab.com/postmarketOS/pmaports/-/issues/2346.)
