clang -v format potentially differs from a standard
Linking in an issue with the nodejs folks: https://github.com/nodejs/node/issues/29536
The clang assembler is not recognized when building nodejs on alpine as it seems there is an expectation of clang
to be the first word brought back in the clang -v
expression output during a compiler check.
I can only confirm that the behavior is consistent between nodejs and the clang
package compiled into void-linux
; I don't have any other distros handy to test.
Check the nodejs issue for details on the variation of the version expression output between alpine
and void-linux
.
I'm unsure if this should be brought up as a clang
packaging issue? Or if it should be asked of the nodejs
team to modify their regexp to account for a WORD instead of FreeBSD
in their optional first word check.
