getty errors on alpine-virt

Trying out Alpine for VMs, did initial setup, fixed ntp and such and installed a service, then noticed the following being written to /var/log/messages every 10 seconds:

daemon.info init: process '/sbin/getty -L 0 ttyS0 vt100' (pid 6011) exited. Scheduling for restart.
daemon.info init: starting pid 6015, tty '/dev/ttyS0': '/sbin/getty -L 0 ttyS0 vt100'
auth.err getty[6015]: tcgetattr: I/O error^M

QEMU/KVM hypervisor (Proxmox 6.2)
Alpine Linux 3.12.0 x86_64 (from alpine-virt ISO)

To upload designs, you'll need to enable LFS and have admin enable hashed storage. More information
