Netboot files don't provide ext4 filesystem drivers

Hello,

I'm working on a VM setup, where i want to start Alpine with basically only the kernel and an apkovl. Since the host system isn't Alpine, the Netboot Release is the preferred source of those kernel & initrd files, without resorting to scrape those from another release .ISO I found that with this setup, it isn't possible to have this "diskless" boot partition on ext4, since the appropriate drivers are missing in the initrd. The disk drivers need to be available very early for the apkovl mechanism to work. Though FAT drivers are included, which makes me wonder what is the intention behind this decision?

Regards, Jonathan
