chromium-68.0.3440.106-r0 segfault on linux 4.19
For 4.19 kernel (also I came across people having issues claiming to be on 4.17 kernel [1]) starting Chromium causes an immediate segmentation fault during execve (verified with strace). Also, dmesg output appears similar to this:
(chrome): Uhuuh, elf segment at [address] requested but the memory is mapped already
Apparently the issue relates to an mmap bugfix in the kernel [2] which exposes an existing bug in chromium. I am using a similar kernel configuration as my 4.14.x kernel (that is, I left all current config alone and chose defaults for new config), and Chromium worked in the previous configuration.
